A news report in Malaysia states that a burglar who broke into a house was held captive by a "supernatural figure". Everytime the burglar tries to escape the house, he would be denied by the figure. He was then stuck in the house for 3 days and was only found after the house owners are back from a vacation. The "poor" burglar was without food and water for the 3 days and is now sent to a hospital.

Could a ghost really have stopped the burglar from escaping?
I had previously written a post on ghost; I talked about why I feel there is no ghost in this world and why we won't have to fear them even if they exist. This article caught my eye as this is an extraordinary story of ghost helping the living to catch a burglar! This is a story of ghost busting a burglar! And if you have read my post, I mentioned about ghosts not being able to harm the living, but in this case, the burglar was locked in and was deprived of food and water for the 3 days; the ghost had harmed the burglar directly. However, I doubt this story is real and I feel that it could be a ruse thought out by the burglar who could have failed to escape due to some other reasons. What do you think?

Haha, good stuff!
I have never seen true evidence of ghosts, nor do I have any specific belief in what they are, but I do believe in beings that are beyond our scope of current understanding.
The idea that a ghost would stop a burglar though, good stuff! It is stories like these that actually just make me 'hope' ghosts are real, because if this story is real, it's comedy gold!
I find this story really hard to believe, especially the fact about the burglar not having anything to drink or eat for the three days. I'm not sure about Malaysian homes you mean they actually seal off their tap water supply or empty their fridges or dry supply just to go for a vacation? Or did the ghost materialise everytime the burglar tries to open the fridge...
Well, at least the burglar didn't die in the house or anything. That would be stupid on the part of the ghost, making someone else die in the home of the family that it was trying to protect...
lol! That is the stupidest burglar I have ever heard of!
I bet he had a good time in the house.
If the ghost was a poltergeist, it can be possible. I watch too many Ghosthunter shows! :)
Wow this is neat. I wonder how you get a ghost to as a security alarm. Let's see, maybe you do something nice for one of their loved ones that are still living. There we go another reason to be compassinate and giving, ghost security alarms. haha.
