Binge drinking is the consumption of more than 5 alcoholic drinks in a short span of time (usually 2 hours). According to a recent study by the Health Promotion Board of Singapore, binge drinking is a real and rising trend among teenagers in Singapore. After looking at the
report, I think I should make a post on this unhealthy trend.
Safety and moral issues:
- Death or injury due to drunk driving crash.
- Pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases due to unintended sexual activity.
- Being the victim or perpetrator of date rape or other assault.
Health issues:
- Alcohol poisoning.
- Alcohol addiction.
I think some of you may not know that you may die if you drink too much alcohol at one go. Drinking too much alcohol within a short period of time will greatly increase one's blood alcohol content (BAC) in one's body. A very high BAC can cause central nervous depression, loss of consciousness and even death.
Some other effects of alcoholismNobody will want to be involved in any of the dangers that I mentioned above and seriously, I am wondering why people binge drink. Alcoholic drinks are expensive; don't they find it a waste to drink them all up at one go? They should really learn how to enjoy their drink.

Interesting read, I must comment that Singapore really has a top notch government and promoting all the right values and practices that is always in line with pragmatic economic theory. Its a really a great fortune for the Singaporeans:).Especially the recent response regarding fare prices not in relation with oil prices, this is another exemplary example of economic insight by the government. As can be recognized and analyzed from the SBS and SMRT financial report, the bulk of operating cost is labor cost and calls for fare reduction is obviously unwarranted. by maintaining fare and keeping the firm profitable ( as can be seen this year where the company achieved double digit profits) shareholders will be reaching and according to economic theory, the increase in share prices and consequently wealth, will lead to a wealth effect that increase spending and ultimately propel the Singapore economy!!! IMHO what the company needs to do now is to do some thing to the labor cost, "such as employing more foreign talents to keep the firm more COMPETITIVE. n\Nice post anyway. I am a foreigner but keen observer of Singapore society and politics la.
Haha... really insightful comment. You really are a keen observer of Singapore politics and policies. Like your style.
